Everett is a celebrated American author whose bold, genre-defying work explores race, identity, and the human experience with wit, depth, and originality. A recipient of numerous honors, including the Hurston/Wright Legacy Award and the PEN/Faulkner Award, he continues to challenge and captivate readers with every new work.
His latest novel, James—a reimagining of The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn told from the perspective of Jim—has been hailed as a literary triumph. It was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction, the National Book Award, and the Kirkus Prize.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
PERCIVAL EVERETT is a Distinguished Professor of English at USC. His latest novel, JAMES, was published in March of 2024 to great critical acclaim, winning both the National Book Award and the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction. His other titles include Dr. No (finalist for the NBCC Award for Fiction and winner of the PEN/ Jean Stein Book Award), The Trees (finalist for the Booker Prize and the PEN/Faulkner Award for Fiction), Telephone (finalist for the Pulitzer Prize), So Much Blue, Erasure, and I Am Not Sidney Poitier. He has received the NBCC Ivan Sandrof Life Achievement Award and The Windham Campbell Prize from Yale University. American Fiction, the feature film based on his novel Erasure, was released in 2023 and was awarded the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay. He lives in Los Angeles with his wife, the writer Danzy Senna, and their children.

What time does seating begin?
Doors open and seating begins at 6:00 pm.
How does the book signing work?
Every effort will be made to accomodate everyone who would like to participate in the book signing. Guests will be released by row, continuing from front to back. Please note there is a limit of 2 books (or items) per guest.
Please note that the book signing may take some time. These are large events and the author is given the opportunity to interact with guests as they choose, so lines may be long.
